At Functional Chiropractic, our focus is to find the root causes, the why behind what is wrong with you. Once found, our focus is restoring your body to normal, healthy modes of operation.
Because of our emphasis on detailed evaluation of the whole person, we are able to provide our patients with a comprehensive action plan to restore their health. We are unique in the Delmarva area in our holistic (whole person) based, Functional Medicine approach with an emphasis of finding not only what is wrong, but why it went wrong. If you’re a good candidate for our office, we will work with you to develop an action plan to help you obtain your health and wellness goals.
We focus on every single one of our patient’s overall physiological function, including their brain’s interaction with their body, their emotional influence on their health, and overall physical conditioning.
The reason we do this is simple… understanding these principals is essential to determining your care and achieving your health goals. Working this way allows us to understand and work with a very comprehensive list of conditions and develop individualized care protocols to address and support our patients. We pay particular emphasis to the brain. It is in control of every cell, tissue, gland, and organ within the human body. If the brain is not controlling, balancing, suppressing, stimulating the body correctly, dysfunction can occur in every part. So, when you have a health condition…we support the brain in bringing balance back to that part of the body.
We do this via our comprehensive evaluation process which includes:
- Extensive evaluation of medical records
- Extensive evaluation of prior lab testing and radiological evaluations
- Extensive history analysis
- Comprehensive physical exam
- Extensive laboratory exams to evaluate current health status from a Functional Medicine Perspective
- Specialized labs for hormonal, immunological and gastrointestinal testing
- BIA Analysis – technology designed by Duke University which evaluates % body fat, % lean dry muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, extra and intra cellular water (water outside and inside the cell).
The reason for the extensive process, is to go beyond just finding out “WHAT” is wrong, but also finding out which major physiological systems in your body are not functioning at 100% and why it is all happening. It is this comprehensive, thorough evaluation that allows us to develop an effective, unique and detailed action plan to restore your health.

This is a key area that makes Functional Chiropractic different from most other Chiropractic Offices for the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal complaints.
Many other clinics, doctors and facilities are not trained and equipped, or chose not to offer this service. But this is often the difference between success and failure of chronic musculoskeletal conditions, traumatic injuries such as Auto Accidents, Workman’s Comp Injuries, or personal injuries, and conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
